Day 32 Much bumming was to be done today. I went to bed at 3am after looking up a fair bit on DSLR lenses, wide angle, normal and telephoto zoom ones in particular. I woke up at 9 cos of renovations. AGAIN WITH THE RENOVATIONS! Bah, whatever. I couldn’t get back to sleep so I got up and took a shower. Wasn’t sure if my aunt was feeling better so didn’t know whether I should get up and go out for brekkie without my aunt and uncle or not, turns out my uncle was making breakfast anyway, so I just bummed at home and we all watched a bit more of Glee til about 4, which then I thought that I should get out of the house seeing as I’m leaving soon. I had recommendations to go to APM in Kwung Tong and also MegaBox in Kowloon Bay so I decided to head off to APM first, by then I was pretty hungry so I went to Mos Burger and ate. I haven’t had Mos Burger since Japan so it was pretty nice. Oh also near Mos Burger I saw some pretty cool wall mounting After eating my snack I went walking around, realising I couldn’t really buy much after I spent my money on the lens :P But that did not prevent me from window shopping a bit more. Coming to HK, and having to walk around by myself really has made me more of a shopper. I can’t say I ever shopped all that much in melbourne, let alone by myself. Saw some nice stuff, there was this semi-blazer thing for around $585 HKD ~ $75 AUD, but I didn’t have enough if I was to buy the lens >.> then there was a nice hoodie next to it. $795ish ~ $100AUD so that was a definite no. I’m not paying $100AUD for a hoodie. Na thank you. Oh, I forgot to mention that APM Had like a massive TV between their floors :P Just one. But yeah, so window shopping was starting to get depressing cos I couldn’t buy it even if I liked it, so I headed off upstairs to where the electronics were. I went into around 4 stores to see where I could get the best deal. I got to the last place (Broadway was the cheapest) and asked if they could match it, they said they could but I’d have to come back tomorrow cos there’s no stock…so I was just like fek it, I’ll just go to Broadway. So, yes. I got my lens. EF-S 50-250mm f/4-5.6 IS. I want to get a wide angle lens as well which has an aperture of like 2.8 or 1.8 or something, its low. LOL That’d be handy + I’d like to get wider frames on my photos. It’d take less, or maybe even just 1 photo as opposed to stitching photos together to make a panorama, which I have to wait til I get home to do, cos it’d be a bitch to do on this tiny netbook. But that’s a whole other story. For now, I have this new lens and I’ll probably get a wide angle next time I get money (I have to start using my own, I’ve been using the money I’ve been given while I’ve been here (A) Yay for Asian relatives and their genorisity :P ) I also bought a gift for another friend while I was in APM. After that though, I headed off to MegaBox. I realised I got a phone call from the optom which I missed cos I was at Broadway buying my lens, so figured as long as I wasn’t back too late, I could pick up my contacts. SO OFF TO MEGABOX I WENT, WHICH APPARENTLY I TOOK FOREVER TO FIND. Fail, I couldn’t find the free shuttle bus and must’ve turned the wrong way coming out of the exit so I ended up taking a 30 minute detour. I had an amazing view of the city, but…construction fences were in the way so there was no way of me being able to take it. I could see the tops of the buildings and stuff. LOL It would’ve been a nice view. Damn construction! But then yeah, I thought I wasn’t going to find it, then turned a corner and BAM off in the distance I see MegaBox. So I kinda just followed it until I got there. I walked around a bit more, they had an international sized skating rink..at least that’s what I think wiki said.. I checked before I went :P It was a decent size and there were pretty decent skaters. I was pre famished by then so I went upstairs to eat. I forgot what it was called, then when I tried to pronounce pepsi (hor lok) it sounded really bad. LOL So I went to english. FAIL. I saw that on each floor they had these big numbers signifing the floor. Pretty cool They also had some dangling electronic thing that went down about 4 floors. It had scrolly text but it was in Chinese…so I couldn’t read it OH! How could I forget to mention the big ass circle TV mounted on the wall at MegaBox. It’s hard to miss :P OH OH! I SAW A BALL PIT IN THE SHOPPING CENTRE. EFFING WIN. I was going to take a picture, but kids were playing..and I didn’t wanna seem like a pedo, so I didn’t. So sad that work doesn’t have it anymore :( Damn kids! Ruining it for us adolescents! It was getting late and I had no money to spend as I still had to pay for my lenses, which meant I had nothing to do, so I went and found the shuttle bus back to the station, which I still managed to get lost to. I ended up walking around Telford Plaza/cinema for a bit which wasn’t too bad. It’s where original picture was taken. The whole building has a nice feel to it, like I liked the architectural design. The cinema was pretty nice too. This is the cinema: And the ceiling of this picture, the waviness, sort of controlling the flow of things, metaphorically (correct usage of the word? Probably not..) Then when I found the station, about 5 mins later, I headed off to the optoms, which apparently close at 9. Unlucky for me, I arrived at 9:07. Fuggin closed. By 7 minutes, so I had to walk the extra 10 minutes home as opposed to getting off at a closer station. What a pooper. I also need to get a lens pouch for my lens, I have a giant bag, but I kinda don’t wanna lug it around to the shops…like I could be walking between shops outside and want to use it, but fa. Pretty inconvenient to switch lenses in a busy street. Especially if I have to use a massive bag. So, we’ll see. I’ll see how much I’d be expected to use it tomorrow and the decide if I’ll bring it.. and yeah. With 9 days to go now (as it’s 2am) I’m getting closer to the end of my holiday (Leu hung) and I still have a few places to head back to including Mong Kok, The Peak shops, Wan Chai and probably a few more, and I’m not going to them on Day 33, and I’m going to Macau the day after that…so RUSHRUSHRUSH, I’ll have to go to a few places in the same day, seeing as I know what I want to get and should just get in and out. BUT YES, I should sleep now. I hope you’re all enjoying your holidays (assuming you got this time off or just..are on holidays) yepyep. Or just enjoying life :D Remember to smile ;) B
